Most Memorable Birthday Ever

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

This is really a good year for me. Had 2 birthday celebrations for me..no doubt I had to share with another buddy as there’s a number of people having birthdays lapping one another LOL. Received about 20 messages on my birthday..with Mel being the 1st to call me and Yumi the 1st to message me ;-).

Last Wed, met up Kit Loong (Greg) whom I’ve last met for quite sometime. Still looked cocky as ever wakakaka..with the ’shiu ye’ kinda dressing. What to do..salesperson rely their mouths to do the work ;P. Hung out together with Eng & How at Damansara Uptown’s McDs. Of all places…sigh..I was expecting more a mamak restaurant. Or better, Starbucks. Hehe. Chatted till about 11.30pm.

Wesak day, had a little bowling game in 1U. Picked up Jo & Arjuna from station. Arrived late as was waiting for Arjuna. Made Ray, Raymond Logo, Kai Ma, Kai Yeh & cute lil Kristine waited..paiseh. Altogether we all played 3 games. At first, my score was leading with 3 strikes along. Till the end, I sort of fumbled and I lost the lead. To top up the embarassment, my consecutive 2nd and 3rd games both scored less than 100. What happened? Anyway, I wasn’t great at bowling LOL. Normally people’s score would increase after each game but funnily, mine deteriorated. In between, Ray had asked us to bowl our contra hand (meaning right handers bowl once with their left hand and vice-versa) to see how versatile are we. LOL practically all balls rode off to the drain lane, save ofr Jo and Kai Ma who managed to score some points. At another point, Logo & I had same positions and number of pins left on the lane. So we both called out to three and rolled out the ball together. What happened next was beyond expectation. Logo’s hand slipped and the ball rolled backwards LMAO. Gave me a fright as I was standing next to him which made my throw went off the course and into the drain. Everyone was laughing so loud. Jo even laughed and fell after seeing that hilarious scene. Had lunch at Sri Melaka. Gosh, the price was ‘remarkable’. First page dishes ranged from RM8-RM10. Next page? At least RM15. Siao. I ordered among the cheapest on the first page itself; Nasi ayam pandan and a glass of Coke. The rice smelled great. 2 pieces of ayam wrapped in pandan leaves. During meal, I noticed a lot of whisperings between Jo and the rest. Hmm..I suspected they’re definitely planning something for me. Suddenly, Kai Ma, Kai Yeh, Ray & logo got up to go somewhere..if I wasn’t mistaken, they said loo but was it weird to have all going at the sametime? And why outside the restaurant since there’s always one in the restaurant itself? My suspicion grew stronger and stronger. They returned about 15 minutes later, with a plastic bag. I assumed Kai Ma bought something for lil Kristine. Waiter cleared up the dishes. Saw Jo sort of like signal something to Ray..and up came Ray brought up something from under the table..it’s two quarter slices of tiramisu and chocolate cake! With 2 presents wrapped up. LOL..I knew it…they had planned a small scale celebration for me & arjuna. How touching…:’( We opened our presents and inside was a photo frame. Lovely. I will frame our bowling session pics today as a memory. When the bill arrived, everyone offered to share out to pay for me & arjuna’s meal as well. Wow, I couldn’t be more touched than earlier. When we left Sri Melaka, both of us couldn’t stop thanking them for such a great treat and present.

Saturday night had another dinner with friends at 1U. Picked up Kanesh & Tusham, then Dina as usual from his grandma’s place. Wei Wern, Eng & How were already waiting. At first we couldn’t decide where to eat. Then Eng came up a suggestion on Wong Kok Char Chan Teng. Been years since I last came here. How could we miss coming here all this while? Prices pretty reasonable for a student too.  Ordered the chicken chop rice with cheese covering the top. When you disperse the cheese, it’s like sticky pizza at the end. Really unique. And the drinks..extraordinary big with jar like sizes. More than enough to share with another person LOL.  It was cake’s cutting time again and it’s a surprise that took Dina by surprised. Since his birthday is next Friday, Kanesh had put up a good show, making him into thinking the cake was only for me and he himself was caught offguard by the suprise. Good one hehe. Here comes another hilarious part…they made us cut the cake together..by holding hands LMAO!! As if we’re a couple!! After that, we had to feed each other sumore. Wei Wern even suggested we locked hands (What?? Like bride and bridegroom those type?!!) Gosh man..this people could really come up with nonsense for the sake of making a fool out of us XD XD XD. Went over to State’s Lotus for mamak session after that. Felt weird during the conversation as it was divided into 2 categories, the business channel and the entertainment channel. Wei Wern, Eng & How were at the business while the rest of us at entertainment. Totally unconnectable LOL. Meanwhile, the match between Liverpool vs West Ham was on tv. Liverpool won at last with 3-3 penalty 3-0. People were practically cheering as Liverpool emerged the winner.

All in all, this had to be my finest and greatest birthday celebration. I really enjoyed every single one of it. And to all of you out there..you know who you are…thanks thanks, and thanks again for everything. Love you guys a lot and peace! ;-D

American Idol highlights: Down to 3

Sigh..the biggest sigh and biggest disappointment of the week..yes..rocker Chris Daughtry’s gone. Can’t believe it? Neither do I.

Wmplayer_20060512_02225614

Well, Americans have choosen who they clearly want to win this season. Very very very obvious ain’t it? I reckon if Elliott hadn’t done so well in that 2 songs, he should’ve been gone this week, thanks to the neutral voters out there who saved his ass.  Even till this point, I really couldn’t grasp what is so great about Elliott?? Best male vocal for this season? No way! Sorry I would never think he’s a good singer at all. Flawless voice yes but mumbly which I sometimes could barely hear what he’s practically singing. And I will never address these singers as anywhere good, nor excellent. Sigh..now it’s up to Katharine to run along the big battle to the finals. She may not win but at least be the runner-up. Go McPhever!!

Mundane weekend

Sunday, May 7th, 2006

Rather boring weekend this week.. Saturday went for Mike Chin’s birthday lunch at The Curve Redbox. Picked up Jo from Paramount station. Kai yeh went very much earlier. Nothing much but all 4 of us sing our hearts out (Yeah I sucked pretty much at singing but I practically couldn’t count how many times have I went karaoke till now, it’s totally numb LOL).

Sunday evening had a game of badminton…as usual. Since my cousin couldn’t make it, called up Kanesh instead. As I was waiting them in the indoor hall, I couldn’t believe how much it took me this long to notice.. I realised all of the people playing at that session, or should I say majority lah.. are middle age men. So is it right for me to deduce that badminton are more or less being played by elderly men? LOL.. awkward but nah, probably it’s so happened that BB are far more familiar to the ex-students. They could be ex-students years back, who knows? Then again, badminton could really burn much much more calories to be frank.

Somehow predictable Princess ‘P’ Paris Bennet leaves this week.

Wmplayer_20060506_02430309_1

No doubt she’s a very gifted and talented singer for her young age, I think Americans can live with one Fantasia and only one. Seriously, there’s nothing much to criticise on her vocals under the tutelage of her grandmother who was an established singer back then, it’s clear what Americans want to crown their next Idol. Yeah the obvious top 3. Chris, Katharine & Taylor….possibly with Taylor Soul Patrol winning it. Elliott’s next to go, as of the position now which he shared the bottom with Paris. Paris will definitely make a really good singer one day. With her tender age at 17, she still has a long journey to endeavour in the wild of the music industry out there.

My house has become a hotel

Thursday, May 4th, 2006

LOL I didn’t know my house had such a great turnout of ppl staying over. First it was Mel for 2 nights, then Wee Sheng, then Adrian bumped in for the night yesterday. Said he had 2 restless days trying to complete his assignments and he needed to ‘rent’ my place for the night. Been a while since we last updated each other, had some great buddy chats like we used too. He’ll be flying over to Australia in July for his 1 year duration degree. Glad to hear he’s also sending me off at the airport on 3rd of June. One of my best friends since primary. Ah, we longed for the days back then.

‘Booked up’ weekend

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006

What a weekend this was. Labour day’s just around the corner. So many activities. On Wed itself, out on a late movie with Dina, Kanesh & Tusham as usual. What movie? The Wild. LMAO. Free screening at Pyramid mah at 9.50pm, why missed the chance? We almost arrived late for the movie, no thanks to Pyramid’s management to confuse us with the entrance to the parking lot due to renovation >=(. I couldn’t really find the signboard so when I U-turned on the other side, I was too focus on looking for the route I ended up on the wrong lane and went straight for NKVE highway to Cheras!! Wtf..now I have to go all the way down to find the first flyover I can come across to turn back. Not to mention RM3 for the unnecessary toll!!! Movie was okay, lots of laughters here and there..especially the Koala Bear with his cute imitation doll "I’m so cute & cuddly, I like you!" LOL XD.

Friday midnite movie with my cousins at 1 U on Ultraviolet. OMG..what a complete crappy film.. Milla, can’t believe you actually agreed to make this film.. for one thing, it’s much worse than Charlize Theron’s Aeon Flux. At least that show’s storyline’s understandable. This one was totally disposable into bins. More like copy cats to the upcoming X-Men 3 movie..instead of human vs mutants, you have human vs Hemophage - infected humans with a disease that made them stronger and powerful..just like mutants (duh!) and fangs like vampires (only thing was they don’t suck blood LOL) Pretty heavy CGIs but unrealistic at certain scenes. It’s such a waste of money. Thank god Mel didn’t agree to watch this when she was down here last Sun. Even When A Stranger Calls was a much better film.

Saturday’s the big night. AIM 13. Jac. 7 nominations. Mum dropped me at Taman Bahagia station where Kenny will pick us (Jo & Clarice as well). Downpour earlier on but thank god it subsided as we headed to PWTC. It was about dinner time so we decided to look for food at the Mall across. Bumped into Kai Ma and Jo’s friend Victor. Told us to be in the auditorium before 7.30pm. It’s already approaching 7pm so we decided to grab some quick tidbits from McDs and take away for the rest who’s already inside. Inside the auditorium, all 50 of us fans are seated on the left side of the stage. Banners designed by arjuna & made by lai lai were distributed among us to be held everytime the hosts mentioned Jac for the big event of the night. In fact, we Jacsvilles were the most happening crowd at the auditorium. As Jac being the most nominated in the categories, our ear-splitting shrieks and screams can be heard across the auditorium, loud and clear. Clearly even the VIP seats below were staring silly at us with all the commotions LOL. It felt really great and a sense of proudness…for Jac which in the end she took home prestigious awards ;

i) Best New Female Artist

ii) Best Musical Arrangement in A Song

iii) Best Pop Album &

iv) Best Album of The Year.

No doubt she lost Best Female Vocal to Siti, who snapped it up again the 8th consecutive year and Best Song to Zahid’s Warkah Buat Laila…which is barely unknown and heard of..dunno how in the world it won. If it was Mawi’s Aduh Saliha or Adibah Noor’s Terlalu Istimewa, we’re totally fine with it really. Speaking of which, Adibah Noor, the 2nd biggest contender for the night behind Jac..it’s such a pity she walked out empty handed even with 5 nominations in her hand. Could at least had her win Best Video or even Best Song, at least an award for her. She’s got a great voice really. As AIM 13 wrapped up for the night, we waited patiently outside for Jac to step out of the conference room. Spotted Jason Lo and many took the chance to snap pics with him hehe. 30 minutes passed and Jac still wasn’t to be seen. Jac told Ray to inform us to stay as she wants to see all of us. However, all of us hadn’t had proper dinners and stomachs are probably making all types of funny noises LOL. Kenny, me and lai lai left early to meet up the rest at Nasi Kandar Pelita later near KLCC. As everyone started arriving, it’s defintely one of the biggest mamak group ever, with 2 entire rows of table and chairs occupied.

Had a 2 hours game of badminton with my cousin Hong and twin bros. Chun Eng & How on Sunday morning. Gosh, I can’t believe how much their skills have deteriorated since they last played which I’d bet they themselves don’t even remember LOL. After that, when mamak at section 14’s Darul Ehsan. Lots of questions and answered regarding on How’s lifestlye in Liverpool. Got back about 12pm. Met up with Peytsei at 1 Utama, who arrived KL just about slightly past 9pm with her mum to visit her brother in Damansara. Caught a horror movie The Hills Have Eyes which I can only recognise one of the cast; Emilie de Ravin from Lost who played one of the sisters in the film. By golly, when they warned pregnant women and the faint hearted ones against watching this movie, they sure aren’t joking. Power packed with violence and gory, there’s blood gushing and butchering human parts here and there. If it wasn’t for our country’s censoring, it could have been even more disgusting LOL. Basically, the movie’s about a family who’s heading down to California but typical old dad decides to take on the desert route..as he wanted to feel the natural of desert. Then someone set up tyre spikes along the road where it completely blew off their trailer’s tyres. As they could no longer proceed and had to look for help (in the middle of the desert that is), someone began tormenting them and one after another the family member dies. After the show, had to hurriedly send Peytsei back to his bros’ department as it’s already approaching 3am.

Wee Sheng came over on Monday to stay for the night as he had a job interview the next day in Subang. Been such a long time since we last met each other, took the opportunity to enquire him everything there is to know about his 3 months life in Liverpool; clothes, food etc - where to obtain them the cheapest (obviously), what to bring and what not to bring. Made lots of comparison with Chun How’s experience. Practically it’s a month now from our departure flight. Barely had anyting prepared LOL…am taking it superbly cool flexible.

Ah, what a weekend..4 consecutive days of going out. LOL man, I definitely won’t be able to enjoy this much after end this month.

The all American sweetheart, dear Ms. ‘Cal-mari’ & ‘Minks" Kellie Pickler got the shocking boot.

Wmplayer_20060503_00522473

Oooo..how wrong was Simon’s prediction, being one of Top 3. Her Righteous Bros’ Unchained Melody’ wasn’t really that bad when I listened, but more on monotonous. A few flat notes through, pretty similar to Leann Rimes though. Those anti-Pickler fans out there definitely achieved their goal of bringing her down. The saddest part was..if i’m not mistaken, out of all other contestants who got eliminated, they had the chance of singing one last time before the credit rolled. She almost couldn’t manage to finish off her thank you speech right after FOX cut her out totally before she could even sing one last time.
