Underworld 2 at 1U

Thursday, March 16th, 2006

Handphone’s alarm rang at 9am. Instantly I woke up wihout hesitation, no scruffling or whatsoever nonsense that I usually do..ya know..having to wake up this early, on Sat morning sumore. 9.15pm, gave morning call to Dina who answered the phone like half dead zombie LOL. The preview begins at 10.30am, planning to leave the house at 10am, hopefully could reach on time though. Picked up Kanesh and Tusham from their place and was in front of Dina’s. Peeped through inside his door, those noticeable big boot aren’t visible which meant he still hasn’t arrived yet. 5 minutes ticked by and still no sign of his car. Just as that, his car turned in from the corner.

It’s already 10.20pm…from Old town to 1U, we’ll never make it on time. Ended up late in the cinema anyway. No idea how much have we missed from the start. Whoa….just love Kate’s skimpy gothic image outfit. The hair and diamond blue eyes and partly potruted fangs..rrraaafff…XD XD XD. Just like the prequel, most of the scneries are rather dark and gloomy…gives you the cold and dampen kinda feeling. Director Len Wiseman aced it. In this sequel, they introduced the hybrid race..meaning the cross breed of a werewolf and a vampire. Such that they have a great advantage of being able to walk under sunlight. Overall I’d say it’s an enjoyable show, lots of violence but don’t bother me a bit, just the ending, I felt a little bit of cliche..Somehow took Kate and the long hair guy..forgot his name to easily defeated the fearsome Marcus and his brother. The way they died didn’t quite fit the cue. Then again, it’s just my opinion.

Went for lunch at PJ Hills in Sec 14. Boy…I hardly got used to eating Indian spicy meals and really blew me off here with the degree of hotness. Dina, Kanesh & bro took it simple all the way as though nothing at all. Really salute them.

Since the heating wheather is killing our guts (LOL), decided to stop by McDs in Amcorp to sip on the tasteful milkshake. Me ordered strawberry, as usual. Chatted hours before we made the move. Went into some CD and DVD stalls before sending them off.

Myn’s 12th birthday

Sunday, March 12th, 2006

It was Myn’s 12th birthday on Wed. They decided throw her a small celebration in 1U. Bought an affordable chocolate cake, doesn’t seem to look appealing to the stomach but according to the lady at the counter, she said most customers acknowledged the cake with thumbs-up. Asked them to write "Myn" on the cake but even they themselves having difficulty squezing the icing so Ostro tried and sure it was hard. The ‘M’ didn’t turn out too well so I stepped in to do the ‘Y’ and ‘N’. LOL as long it’s readable.

Dropped into Nandos where Ivy will lead Myn into the surprise location. Sure enough, we saw the shock on her expression and after that she was constantly thanking us with her jolly dimpy smile. Cute LOL. The manager of Nando’s treated her a free sundae upon hearing from our conversation it’s her birthday. Really nice of him, plus his PR skills was just excellent.

She had her own birthday party back at her house on Fri. Arrive about 8.30pm. Evonc was there together with a bunch of kids..whom we..the elderlies..LOL felt awkward at the first place. Nothing much to be done except mingled with Aris, Ulee, Arjuna & family and also long time no see Detnelat. When all of her friends left, she began opening her presents in front of relatives and us. Gosh the way she tore and ripped them apart was unbelievable..there’s just no tenderness LOL. Got back about 1am plus.

Your Top 12 for American Idol 5/2006 unveiled

Saturday, March 11th, 2006

After 92,000 people auditioned across the US, narrowing down from Top 175 to just Top 24 and finally a few days ago, the Final 12 are placed into their golden seats. Let’s begin recapping from the moment of the first live results.

1st_4 CW; Becky, Bobby, Patrick & Stevie

Becky was the first to out for the girls followed by Stevie with the 2nd lowest amount of votes. As for the guys, Bobby leaves first, accompanied by Patrick, who was one of the finalists I rooted for. I thought he did okay, maybe isn’t breathtaking but certainly not bad enough to be the one getting the boot.

Second live results we see another 4 contestants made the cut.

2nd_4 CW; Brenna, David, "Sway" & Heather

Many couldn’t take Brenna’s diva-ish way of approaching the audience and so he finally got the boot which she deserves. David on the other hand was a real surprise. No doubt I myself never like his style as he was doing too much of broadway/soul/jazzy type which puts many to sleep, his good-looking image could at least spawned many young teen gals to powervote him in order to stay longer, even in the forums, many people like him despite the fact like what Paula said, being rather 1 dimensional of only coming up Elvis/Frank songs. "Sway"..well in this case..he memang ’suei’ lah to the US public LOL for elimination him. No doubt he had a nice falsetto but the song was rather karaoke-ish according to Simon and wasn’t surprise he’s leaving. Heather, another one of my fav from my list got the boot too. Frankly, I was also disappointed not once, but twice with the way she handle the song. Really, when she sang When You Tell Me That You Love Me for the first week, it was so bland..no high vocal to impress at all. And then she went and take on Mariah’s Hero..gosh..of all she took one hell out of risk of trying to deliver Mariah’s song? In the end, it just wasn’t good enough. I spotted her right at the moment in the audition when they aired her singing Josh’s You Raise Me Up and boy, that was just fantastic. Well, too fad that she faltered in the Top 24.

The third and final live results before the brand new top 12.

3rd_4 CW; Kinnik, Will, Gedeon & Ayla

Kinnik was expected to leave as her If I Ain’t Got You suffered pitching problems. Will…a shocker to me..I thought Kevin a.k.a. Chicken Little was suppose to leave since his voice was rather weak instead. Finrod was a big fan of him and now that he’s gone, don’t think he’ll be ever watching further episodes more intent than he already was. Either Gedeon or Bucky would have gotten since I do believe lacked of airtimes could eventually hurt the contestants. The remaining Top 12 spot…either went to Ayla or Melissa. In my heart, I kept insisting it belongs to Ayla..Ayla..Ayla.

Ryan: Melissa, you took the flight all the way from Tampa to Denver to audition..well…the flight was worth it for you. Congratulations.

Okay, what just happened there? Seriously I was about to rip of the TV at the moment. How could they not put Ayla through?!!? SO NOT FAIR! Just because Ayla screwed a little on Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten there and they decided to bring Melissa in then?? What about the past 2 weeks? She was excellent with X-tina’s Reflection! How could they not see beyond the potential in her??? Totally, utterly bullshit. I was beginning to like her very much and now she’s no longer in the comp…bah.

And there you have ladies and gentleman, America’s Top 12 finalists for 2006.

Final_12_1

I was finally convinced that the my favs in my list were cursed to leave one by one every week. Don’t believe? Revo did this sig for me back then;

Ai5siggy

Obviously from the sig, 3 of my favs for the 3 consecutive weeks have been eliminated.

1st - Patrick

2nd - Heather

3rd - Will

So be it, I had to remodel my new fav list now that we’re in the Top 12. For the time being, my favourite will be Chris & Ace for the guys and Kellie, Lisa, Mandisa & Katherine for the gals. Let’s see what do they have install for us next week with a bigger stage and bigger audience. Can’t wait.

Inter Fanclub Bowling at Ampang Point & Jac performs in Planet Hollywood

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

First and foremost, check out the hilarious video above. It’s the one I took from Watsons 12th Bday Bash I attended few weeks ago. Let it load, be sure to observe the person on the very right dance steps. That’s Kai Yeh. You’ll laugh your hearts out when you watch him do the 360 spin. XD

Sun morning, they had this bowling competition held among fan clubs organised by Misha Omar FC & Farah Fauzana FC. Most of it were established fan clubs of local artistes and many AF finalists too (i.e. noticed Adam AF2 FC with red t-shirts, Amazing Amylea FC in yellow, Fellowship Of The Kodoks (Afdlin Shauki FC) in green as well as Erra Fazira CF who brought a banner promoting on her latest movie. Our MI had only the Farahnatics and Pinkies to represent. Rather sad that AF had so much popularity than MI in terms of forming respective fan clubs (Thank god bloody Mawi World FC wasn’t there or invited or whatever for I swore I’d have thrown rotten eggs at their fanatic club LOL). Each fan club was to select 4 of their best players to represent the fan club and for ours, we picked Arjuna, Estra, Mart & Arjuna’s friend Zack. Our team was located between Team KRU (Variety of orange jerseys on the left) and Farah Fauzana FC (DJ of Hot FM with black attires on the right).

The Farahnatics team L-R; Mart, Zack, Arjuna & Estra

Majority of them were definitely pro-bowlers, seeing as they each possessed self bowling balls together with hand gloves. Compared to ours, we’re all using the balls in the center itself (Nah who cares..it’s the skill that matters and not just plain show offs).

Competition was getting really intensed, so as the cheers from each team. Everytime their players hit a strike, the fans would scream their lungs out. Especially Team KRU and you’ll be really amazed how energetic the fans are cheering for their players.

2 games are finally completed and now to telly the total marks from each fan club.

1.   MISHA OMAR FC (MOFC) 1444
2.   FARAH FAUZANA FC (FFFC) 1385
3.   FELLOWSHIP OF THE KODOKS - Afdlin Shauki FC 1345
4.   Nana FC 1263
5.   Amy Mastura FC 1239
6.   KRU VIP 1215
7.   Amazing Amylea FC 1181
8.   Ningclix – Ning Baizura FC 1176
9.   B.E – Bersama Erra 1144
10. Daniel FC - Pinkies 1109
11.  Ziana Folks - Ziana Zain FC 1099
12.  DNFC - Dayang Nurfaizah FC 1055
13.  Akma FC 1053
14.  Za8 FC 1047
15. Adam FC 1042
16. Anuar Zain FC 997
17. Farahnatics – Farah Asyikin FC 977
18. Farah FC (AF2) 937
19. Sarah Raisudin FC 937

No doubt we emerged third last in the final score, at least the team did their best of not drowned into panick like the last time and we’re rather satisfied with the score for an amateur team.

It’s 5.30pm and I’ve gotta rush for the Jac’s show down at Planet Hollywood. Was planning to get home and have my shower first but I guessed I wouldn’t make it on time. It’s a good thing I brought extra clothes as I’ve predicted the event wouldn’t end before the ample time give to me to travel back and forth again. Had my light late lunch with Aris, Ulee and her lil brother at Burger King first before I made the move down to Bintang Walk. As I was in the queue buying my lRT tix to KL Sentral, Kai Ma gave a call to come earlier as it’s free. What? Free?! Shocking as I doubt did I hear correctly. They managed to get us a free table under Jac’s guest list and I was so preparing to pay RM35 for the show but now it’s free! LOL, quickly got into the loo to change my clothes and dashed for the LRT. Don’t wanna be late cos they’ll charge us then.

Finally arrived at the doorstep of PH, checked my time..slightly off 7pm but stil early. My first time entering PH so I wasn’t sure which entrance to take when they mentioned the one going to the basement. Called Kenny..said that he’s already somewhere nearby but will be there a little late to get some ‘errant’s done. I stepped into one of the entrance, not realising the main entrance was the one over to the other side. And as I was registering my name under Jac’s guest list name, something really unexpected happened. The entire PH building went totally blackout! Aduh..takkan lah I jinxed the place..not even 5 minutes I stepped in and this occured. I looked outside the area, thinking it was coverage involved entire city of KL but no it’s only the PH building itself.

So the registrar jotted my name and I was ushered down to the PH basement…in darkness. Had to use my hp to align down the stairs. Don’t wanna embarass myself tripping and rolling down LOL. At a sheer night vision distance, I could make out the Jacsville gang’s table. Ray, Raymond, Kai yeh, Kai Ma, Dragon and all the way down from Singapore, Patricia were seated motionless in the pitch black. Greeted them and sat in between Raymond and Patricia. They were discussing plans for the Jacsville’s first anniversary on the 26th later this month at the Curve. Hope it’s gonna be a blast as I’m so looking forward to this day. Kenny, Jo & Michael joined in…but the electricity never did regain operating. We sat in the darkness, partially lit up by red square candles placed on each table, that’s all. Neither food nor drinks could we order at the time being, not till the electricity was back up.

2 hours has passed and we’re still in the dark. Show was to begin at 10.30pm and if the place isn’t lighted up in another half an hour, this calls for a cancellation. A ‘flash’ blinded us for a second and what a relief, the electricity’s back and the show was going to proceed! Thank god. The place was beginning to fill up as Jac arrives with auntie Maggie and a few of her best friends. We all cheered, anticipated what songs would she singing for us the night.

Jac did an astonishing 17 songs for the night..even if we did pay RM35 for entrance fee, it was more than worth it seriously. Some songs she did ranges from her album hit such as Tunggu Sekejap, Di Bawah Pohon Asmara, Cuma Setia and other covers such as the recent Grammy awarded John Legend’s Ordinary People to Mariah’s We Belong Together.  She also invited a guest artist, Misha Omar belting a duet, Cinta. On the table next to ours, she introduced 2 familair faces whom they felt familiar to me somewhere till they mentioned The Moffatts! OMG..they’re just sitting right next to ours! Bob & Clint! Couldn’t believe it…back when I was in Form 2, I love their songs I’ll Be There, Miss You Like Crazy, Life Is So Short etc to name a few. The whole PH was packed with patrons till they had to stand within the stairs and I can officially announce that her first come back show to PH was a success. Kudos to you Jac for putting up a yet bombastic show. As usual she ended it with Gemilang..where Dragon called out from the audience below it’s perempuan gila punya lagu LMAO!!! Even she herself introduced the song as perempuan gila XD XD XD.

Went for mamak after a little short dance while taking some pics with Jacsvilles..hehe..manage to get Bob & Clint’s shots ;P. I think the mamak we went was right next to a gay bar if I wasn’t mistaken. There was this sissy, dressed in sleeveless pink shirt and short bermuda pants shouting across the street to some guy I presumed with the voice of gosh..errgh..drove all my hair stand on hand..it was so feminine till I cringed right at the spot, in front of everyone. He was practically persuading whoever that is to go back in..something about service..eww..couldn’t take it. That someone he was shouting at indeed turned out to be a guy. Well, if there’s one thing I’ve learned if you’re to stay past 3am in the middle of nowhere streets in KL, be very very sure there’s a big gang with you. For…hoho..I couldn’t guarantee the consequences.

Underworld 2: Evolution preview

Saturday, March 4th, 2006

The Star offered 1000 tickets for the preview on March 11th yesterday at its HQ so I snapped up the chance to redeem 4 tix.

Dscn2355

Bumped into Yah Kang at Menara Star but pura-pura didn’t realise him…kekeke..what a friend. I think he saw me too, probably did the same thing as well.

Another MLM…

Saturday, March 4th, 2006

Recently I was introduced by Patrik to Synergy Worldwide (Concidentally, those who are watching the new season of The Apprentice, one of the 2 groups formed was also called Synergy LOL), I got to know this MLM was established 7 years back and the links were pretty solid. On Wednesday, Chun Eng introduced me to E.Excel, established 17 years back which started as an RND centre and later developed into their very own products. They are truly testified as pure products from legal herbs and fruits supplements. When I brought it home for my mom to see, she instantly recognised the company. Her friend, Mrs. Pang used to be a member then but the products were getting somehow expensive in a way, she bought a number but couldn’t manage to sell them. So she left the company and joined China’s Tiens instead. There’s so many MLM companies out there and all out trying to fork members to be their downlinks. For the time being, I’m not working so I can’t decide at the moment which one I will join the future. Or maybe I won’t too.

2 Idols at Watsons 12th Birthday Bash

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

As coincidence as it was, I found this Watsons article which I went last Friday in today’s Star Metro.

Idols put on a show at birthday do

IT WAS a special night but the lukewarm response to the concert in honour of Watsons Personal Care Store’s 12th anniversary put a damper on the occasion.

Three thousand guests had been expected to attend the birthday bash and concert held at Dewan Wawasan in Menara PGRM, Cheras, on Feb 24 but the hall was barely half full when the event, featuring Malaysian Idols Jaclyn Victor and Daniel Lee, started at 9pm.

29idols

Victor and Lee singing a duet

The unusual traffic crawl along Jalan Pudu Ulu was first thought to be the reason for the slow crowd, and the concert was delayed by an hour. But, even halfway through the performances, the hall remained visibly empty.

Tickets to the concert had been given to Watsons shoppers who made a minimum purchase of RM50 at 12 selected outlets in Kuala Lumpur. A total of 3,000 free tickets were given out on a first-come-first-served basis and all were snapped up in two days. (Funny has to how it’s written 3,000 tickets given but the amount of ppl who turned up was somehow disappointing..I mean they just threw the ticket away? How wasted can that be?? You bought the equivalent amount of stuffs which came together with the tix but you didn’t even bother to attend a free concert…so your loss)

But, if Watsons customers were not appreciative of the effort put into the staging of the concert, staff members of the international personal care retail chain are to be commended for being an enthusiastic lot.

They turned out in full force, clutching fluorescent wands and cheering on their favourite singers. Besides the Watsons employees, there was a group of Daniel Lee’s fans clad in pink T-shirts who were called Pinkies, plus fans from Jacsville, the fan club devoted to Jaclyn Victor.  (Right as the show was to begin, everyone was screaming Jac! Daniel! Watsons! Jac Daniel! Watsons! LOL…what a nice rythm)

When Watsons Malaysia brand ambassador Cheryl Samad, who co-hosted the concert, introduced the first performer - none other than Malaysian Idol 2005 Daniel Lee - the crowd, especially the girls, went wild (Believe me when they said wild, it was absolutely WILD). Lee sang a fast-tempo Mandarin number called The Choice from his debut album.

He wowed the crowd further with a soulful rendition of the ’70s Indonesian love ballad Angin Malam, before making way for his predecessor and Malaysian Idol 2004, Jaclyn Victor.

29pinkies

The Pinkies at the Watsons 12th anniversary birthday-bash-cum-concert

(LOL…very clear shot of Ostrova there XD)

Clad in a little black dress with a sheer red shawl and big loop earrings, Victor sang a cover version of Jessica Simpson’s Angel. She then sang a cover version of Mariah Carey’s popular love ballad, Always Be My Baby(Something went wrong with the song as it wasn’t minus-1 at the beginning)

It was soon Lee’s turn again and he returned to the stage with an unplugged medley of Rick Price’s Heaven Knows, True and Belaian Jiwa. However, he stole the limelight with Mimpi (Pinkies all stood up and waved their banners like mad I tell ya), the song he sang for the Malaysian Idol 2005 competition.

Victor got the crowd to participate in the last two songs she sang solo for the night (Big Spender and I Will Survive. For the latter song, she invited 5 members of Pinkies from the audience as well as 5 members of Jacsville up the stage to dance with her. Initially Kenny & I were called up since we represented the Jacsvilles but I was way too embarassed to go dancing up on stage hehe..Ostrova, KY and piggygrace who was seated beside me when up to represent Jacsville then. You guys didn’t see the most exciting moment when Jac asked KY to gelek and boy KY really can gelek man!! LOL we were all cheering for him down there cos he did it so outstandingly!) before being joined by Lee, Samad, Watsons general manager Ian Cruddas and Watsons health and beauty queens on stage to cut the anniversary cake.  (LMAO, the cutting cake ceremony went awfully wrong here, after we sang the birthday song, confettis were shot from side ways and by golly, all of it fell directly onto the cake with lighting candles, and the next thing you know, fires started spreading on the stage with the confettis burning here and there and that’s when it struck you right at the moment that the table cloth was on fire as well!!! Cheryl, Lee, Ian, Jac & Daniel were frantically putting out the fires on stage and all of us below could only stare in horror and disbelief LOL..this incident was something to really remember. And thank god the fire was immediately distinguished )

Lee and Victor later sang a duet while a confetti finale signalled the end of the concert.  (First song was Let’s Get Loud and the final song..take a guess..excited  to have a chance to listen to them for the first time doing this song which has never been done anywhere before, teng teng teng..Carrie Underwood’s Inside Your Heaven. They both blended in the song superbly)

Oh wow what a night, the RM50 worth of product purchased from Watsons was never a waste. The show was just awesome, and what a bang.

After the show, since Michael was living around the area, we opted for a supper session with him together with KM, KY, Ostrova and Kenny. We went to this coffeeshop where later we bumped into Pinkies’ Jwong, Lily White and 3 more members I don’t recognised suppering at the same coffeeshop. Kenny offered a ride to me back after supper.
