Happy New Year 2006!!!
Wow…what a blast I have on New Year’s eve night..definitely the best I’ve ever felt for the past 4 years (save for last year’s super dull due to the tsunami mourning). Needless to say, it was raining throught the entire morning and afternoon..already partly dampening the mood of celebrating New Year’s eve. By 7pm, the rain still wouldn’t stop. One minute, it went poured like anything…a few seconds later, it subsided..then started pouring again..then subsided..like it’s neverending. But I have a strong feeling that it’d eventually stopped altogether before the clock striked 12.
Priest’s parents came to pick me up at 7 plus. Had dinner at a nearby coffeeshop. Then they dropped us at Taman Bahagia station where we will meet up with Ostro at KLCC. Planned to catch Daniel & Nita live from 8TV for the Petronas Outreach countdown. In the train, we started smsing New Year messages to our friends…for sure when it’s closer to midnight, the line’s gonna be packing jammed. Reached KLCC, called Ostro on his whereabouts..at Avenue K’s Burger King..which is the first outlet next to the station on the right. Met some familiar faces and some new ones too..all Daniel’s fans for obvious reasons. Before we entered Burger King, we noticed they were people selling the RM8.80 Maxis simcards at the underground walkway to KLCC and since it’s the last of promotion, priest & I decided to share out the value. When he activated it right at the spot, card only displayed RM4..what happened to the remaing RM24?? We thought probably it’d automatically add the value later but for confirming purposes, we decided to ask the gals who sold the simcard to us. To our shock, they had already left. Wth…
Thank god the rain had stopped when we got up to the stairs leading to the main entrance of Suria KLCC (outside). Then made our way to the open air setup stage that we thought we saw yesterday right opposite Avenue K, which coincidentally was also in front of KLCC entrance. Turned out this wasn’t the exact venue..more like Celcom promoting their X-Pax simcards. Asked the securities and they answered it’s located deep into the KLCC park, right in front of ExonMobile building..where Farah performed the day before. So it’s the same place after all. Made our way to the mushy grasses still moist from the rain..made my entire Camel shoes filthy. There were still many spaces left in between down the audiences area..probably more are on the way. Not being racist or anything but the crowd here are 90% Malays..which we felt weird trying to cheer for Daniel & Nita..they most probably don’t watch MI anyway. Surprised that 8TV/TV3 decided to air this place live instead of Astro. If that you-know-who fella came to sing here..arrgh..we’re totally nowhere standing against those AF maniacs.
Right behind, Adam & Marion were seen doing some shootings for 8TV..just a short announcement to the viewers at home that live telecast being broadcasted from here.Took a few pics of them too.
Ostro suggested we that we head over to Sg. Wang instead..cos the celebration there’d be more livelier. Wasted no time, we walked all the way to Bukit Bintang..sensed a little drizzling starting but didn’t bother more of it. In the midst of it, got a call from Patrik..tricked me that he was around the place somewhere looking at me..but actually drove passed me couple of seconds ago LOL. Finally reached..and boy..the crowd here’s way bigger and happening than KLCC. We made a trail and squeeze our ways through the deafening and loud chirping crowds, blowing their whistles and some spraying party foams everywhere..tried to evade them as much as possible. But then the crowd was just too uncontrollable. So we decided to check out Times Square instead..at the same time, probably could bump into kai ma n kai yeh who were staying there for the night.
At the entrance to Times Square, they had set a stage over the right hand corner of the building. A guy distributing 2 four digit numbers to each individual at the sideway, said that there were gonna be lucky draws later after 12am. Lingered here for hours..undecided where to return to KLCC or Sg. Wang for the countdown. At the same time waiting for Evonc who was up above Kai ma & kai yeh’s room and couple of more friends. Priest wanted to go back to KLCC but majority of hands said they were not willing to walk the treacherous way back there again..I wouldnt mind seriously but seeing as the only two of us, I didn’t want anymore as I’d rather be with the crowd. Told him to come back here after their performances..leaving his bag in my possession.
As everyone finally gathered around, decided to go back to Sg.Wang. Bought about 10 cans of party foam spray (RM2 per bottle..reasonable though). Started spraying at Ostro LOL..Supposed to save it for the countdown but somehow started a little..cos overexcited. Once we got into the humoungous crowd at Sg. Wang, that’s when the chaos begin…in every direction came the foams flying about..’attacking’ one another. Tried my best to avoid as much as I can..but we knew very well that’s not possible LOL. Got soaked with foam all over my body..from head to toe.. How many times? Barely countable. Everyone just sprayed at each other like nobody’s business. The pleasure, fun and excitement all exudes from myself..even though having to get filthy (New Year leh..don’t give a damn lah..charge!! XD), totally worth it. They kept on coming and coming…foams flying all over..left right centre. Even they was one person spraying from the overhead bridge linking the Lot 10 to Sg. Wang. It was madness everywhere..and we’re caught right in the middle of it LMAO. It’s just too bad priest couldn’t come here on time to witness what we are going through..Well he had to countdown there alone instead.
5 minutes till the new year steps into our life…30 seconds…10 seconds…6 seconds…5….4…..3…..2…..1 WOOHOO!!!!! YAY!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR 2006!!! Fireworks esploded high above the sky, enlighting the darkness with beautiful colours of glitters. More cheers, screams, horns, whistles and foams eloped as more fireworks bombarded. Thank god I got my handy camera phone to record the 5 minute display..really it was such an awesome sight watching the playback over and over again. Last shower of fireworks went up the sky. We jumped happily..wishing everyone..hugging and shaking hands. At this point, my hp rang and surprisingly Mel got thru admist the jamming packed lines, wishing me happy new year from everyone back at Sitiawan. Was screaming in the phone as I can barely hear myself speak with the crazy banging crowd at the background.
Finally we freed ourselves from the sardine-packed crowd and headed back to Times Square and they’ve started announcing the lucky draw numbers. Took out each of the numbers collected earlier..eagerly waiting with patient..hoping for a strike. Priest called..finally getting through after which I tried tens of times calling him. Said he’s in Sg. Wang, so I told him to make his way back here at Times Square in front of the stage. It was super slow waiting the numbers to be called out one after another..looking for the lucky person who has that number. Repetitive callings on all 4 digits. Mel called again and I heard Pey Tsei talking on the other side..wishing me new year again. The gals couldn’t stand waiting any longer so they went to Starbucks for drink while the guys wait. The last number was called but we still hadn’t had the luck of bringing back anything so walked up ahead to meet them. Got another call from priest with bad news..he lost his wallet while calling earlier on..was so shocked to hear that..how’s that possible. Then he told me he took out his wallet and placed it by the side while calling me..unawared that some guy snatched it without his knowledge. Terrible, what’d his parents say man? Sure kena scolding gau gau man…thank god didn’t bring much money..but the documents..especially his ATM card and most important, his IC..it takes great trouble to go through all the processes again. I told him to get back here at Starbucks, we’ll make a report ASAP. While waiting for him, I ordered ice blended Mocha. 10 minutes passed and he’s still not here. Got up from my chair and was about to look around when he suddenly appeared behind me, a really troubled look across his face. We immediately left and went to the police station opposite the Pudu jail. Once we got there, the officers on guard told us to go to Dangi Wangi HQ for report of missing items. Priest was thinking of walking all the way there, which is so impossible as it’s near the Merdeka stadium..which is not a mere distance leh. We have to take cab there, even if it’s double rate. Thank god it wasn’t really expensive..RM4. What bad luck to usher the new year by losing a waller…sigh. Done police report, there was a monorail station nearby..sat on and went straight back to PJ. Then gotta drive him back to Subang. Got back about 3am, took a little rest and cleaned my entire body after being plagues by those foams. What an up and down of a new year.
