The 26th surprise birthday bash for Farah from the Farahnatics was definitely one of the most memorable times I’ve experienced in my life. Never had so much fun in my life. Breakthrough point was I finally danced for the first time! ;P..yeah how lame that sounded, but who cares.
They had planned earlier on to have it at a cafe called Friendster (familiar isn’t it
at Damansara Perdana..which I totally had no idea where it was. Farahnatic Mandy provided a map but it was too simplify to understand so we had to get near the area and asked for directions. Priest & I stopped at a neighbourhood which has a guard house by the side. He told us to pass a hilly road while The Curve’s on the right. Opposite the cafe is the Hyundai showroom. Managed to find it..no surprises if people tend to get lost searching in this new area. Once we got in, some of the familiar faces..Kai Ma Kai Yeh, Michael, Ivy, Mandy, Fareesya etc are already present, preparing for the surprise. Yup, Farah had no idea what’s in store for herself..earlier on they had discussed with her boyfriend Iwan to take her for a usual dinner celebration some sort. She never forseen that the Farahnatics was going to throw her a surprise birthday party.
Ostrova & Teng were the hosts of the night. It took a while for her to arrive so we had some karaoke sessions for fun and the ice-breaker session yet again. I was the second to introduce for the night, nervous as usual but it’s the procedure. When it was Farahnatic Arjuna’s turn. Ostrova made him sang I Surrender (which Farah sang during the workshops of course). Man, he definitely possessed a splendid voice and he ought to audition for the next MI seriously. Then Ostrova even had our 3 ‘judges’ comments to say a few words of his singing. Michael protrayed the role of Roslan, Kai Ma as Kak Jee and Kai Yeh as Paul Moss (what’s weird is this version of Paul commented very fluently in Malay LOL). The turn went around an as it was priest’ turn, Ostro requested him to sing Daniel’s Mimpi..with the backup of Daniel’s ultimate fan, Teng LOL.. Then again, she didn’t really sing at all.
"Farah has just arrived! People get ready!" someone shouted. We signal the waiter standing by the corner for the arrival. We dimmed the lights earlier on, ensure no one makes a single sound..except the music which was playing softly in the background..some held balloons to fling at her when she appears. Started smsing Mel to tell her about the party..actually didn’t wanna disturb her study but I was just too excited..had to tell someone about this. ;P
The moment was here..had my digicam recorder prepared…waiting ..wating…. waiting…. The waiter sents a definite clear sign. As soon as Farah stepped in.."Surprise!! Happy Birthday Farah!!" Farah gasped..as if out of breath, her hands covering her wide-open jaw. We cheered and clapped as loud as we all could. The tears of overwhelming..we could see it from a distance..she was trying frantically to hold her gushing tears, her back facing us, too stunned to utter any word. The clapping and cheers got more immensed. She’s trying to catch her breath..LOL..the cheers and claps gave her more pressure. Slowly, she began to release her hands..then looked at Iwan…and a bouquet of roses in front of her unbelieving eyes…a beautiful gesture indeed and a big applause after that. She stepped on one of the scattered balloons to mark her 26th birthday.
Lovely couple, aren’t they?
Ostrova then hand over the mic to Farah to give a short speech. She thanked high and low to everyone who helped to plan this event. She felt grateful that her passionate fans (yes that’s the Farahnatics) had realised a dream of her being an Idol. No doubt she didn’t win the comp, her fans stick true to her till the very last and she accepted as a blessing from god.
Look how pretty she dressed
It was a time to feast and we gather around the buffet table, grabbed bites from each dishes. They were minced sausages, oyster spaghetti and a couple more dishes I couldn’t recall but the food was great..I had the sausages and spaghetti for a second go LOL. While munching on the delicious food, had a conversation with Michael, Kai Ma & Kai Yeh regarding some differences between the pronunciation of certain Cantonese words over here and Hong Kong.
Priest then came over to pass together the gift I bought for Farah. I helped her wore it around the neck..oh…was embarrassed to say..my hands got a little shaky..I dropped the butterfly..LOL bad fingers and I had difficulties releasing the knot..LOL..thank god it fitted well after scourging to get the locket in piece.
Yup…the butterfly locket
It was time to to present her the birthday cake (Yup you guessed it..chocolate banana again) and before that, priest and the rest of the Farahnatics were proud to show her with a very own first official fansite which was done tireless and endlessly by priest himself with the help of excellent graphic designer Arjuna, Aris & Ellyse (too bad she wasn’t here to witness the opening ceremony) Wanna check out the website , click on http://www.farahasyikin.net and it’ll give you access to wonderful site dedicated to Farah. There’s an active forum link to it and up to date activities will be discussed as it goes. "Oh my god!!" was the exact exclaimation she said when she saw the site.
It was time to cut the cake, and we were singing, wishing her happy birthday again. Priest wanted to dunk the cake but didn’t work out again LOL..he really enjoyed that badly..:D

Farah belted several songs i.e Don’t Let Go, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, All By Myself accapella version and Kembali Di Sisi Mu..her ever powerful-packed voice stormed the cafe and even the table outside with a brunch of teenagers gave standing ovation to her performances. The cheers went on and as loud as you could ever imagine.
Backup dancers from priest, kuaciman, Ostrova & Michael when she sang ANMHE. There was one scene where all 4 held hands, circled around her like a merry go round and then stretched out their hands as if to beg to accept her. That was hilarious LOL.
Kuaciman came out with a list of poems that some of the members wrote exclusively for dear Farah but couldn’t make it to the party.
More activities went on as we started having dances on the floor. Everyone got up and grooved to the music which began with famous Crazy Frog, Macarena, Last Ketchup song and more…gosh we danced, moved and partied like no one’s business. It was hell a lot of fun. I was beginning to feel the open sensation that I’ve finally done something very much outgoing.
And just you thought it was over, Michael stepped up and offered an infectious Thai performance specially for Farah (if it was outsiders, he’d would have a charge an amount of money to perform it) and it was really good. I so had the video captured but turned out too dark of an environment to see a single thing adding to the black wallpaper behind made it even harder. We hadn’t had enought of enjoyment, the dance continued, popping to very last remaining balloons we can find.
Time was about to strike midnight. Many had to leave as it was getting late. We had everyone together to take the final group photo. Joining the photo shoot is the newly added member to the fan club, a huge and adorable teddy bear named Fiffy (Farah’s close friends used to call her this) which a few of the members shared off as a present.
Cute Fiffy ^-^
Group photo..one big happy Farahnatics
Just as that, the night has passed. It’s time to say goodbye to everyone. Another memorable day to be placed sacredly in the mind.
Even as we left, priest & I purposely took an extra rounding to sound the horn at Farah, Fareesya, Iwan & a the rest. LOL. As we stopped at a red light sign. Farah’s car quietly approached behund ours. Priest started climbing to the back seat and make silly actions in front of them. They hooted at us and we returned it. We started sort of raced against each other at the LDP highway LOL. Dangerous in a way but lucky they weren’t much cars in the street at this hour. We parted ways at the underground back to SS2. What a great night.
