A blast at Sitiawan/Pangkor part I

Saturday, June 18th, 2005

I apologise for the delay of writing my trip to Sitiawan and

Pangkor

Island

(Hehehe Mel must be wondering liao). I’m gonna separate it into 2 parts, not wanting to make it too long and winding in one. Okay, let’s begin.

Last week was my newly made best friend, Melissa Newton’s 19th birthday. I promised her to be there in Sitiawan to celebrate her birthday with a bunch of friends on Saturday. She was so moved that I really made the mark to her hometown just to celebrate her birthday. LOL, what are best friends for? When I said I’d go, I meant it. Well, actually at first I would think my parents wouldn’t allow me as I have no place to stay for the night there. Mel’s place? Mana boleh for a guy! So the only alternative is finding a cheap hotel nearby. My budget was below RM100 and Mel found one for the cost of RM75. It’s only a kilo or two meters from her house. That’s convenient enough. Well, at that time I still haven’t obtained approval from my parents yet. When I approached them, surprisingly they said yes! LOL I was obviously happy and she was more joy than ever when I broke the news to her.

We started planning for the trip once I got the get-go. She will be bringing me visiting places around Sitiawan. On the same night, she will be bringing me to a lavish dinner place. On Sunday, she suggested that we spent the day at

Pangkor

Island

. I was more than thrilled to be finally going there. Moreover with a bunch of friends, how cool is that? She said Thanem, Yuha and Pey Tsei can’t wait to meet me. LOL wah..like meeting a celebrity ;p. I bought her a memorable clay drinking cup with the words ‘World’s Greatest Friend’ embedded on it, shared between me and Huoy Feng.

Early on Saturday morning, I left for Sitiawan to board the Sri Maju bus to Sri Manjung station. When I was already in Pudu station, I realised I had forgotten to bring along Ryan Cabrera’s poster and the American Idol shirt pin that she wanted. Mel is so gonna kill me when I get there..I should have packed it at the moment she requested for it. LOL, the consequences of doing things last minute.

I didn’t know that I had to sit according to my seat number on the bus. Rather embarrassing when I had to move to my original seat cos I was sitting on a gal’s, paiseh… When I was finally on my seat, a lady behind asked me if I would like to trade places with an elderly man a couple of rows behind. I rejected her offer….as I thought it would create trouble later if the conductor was planning to check on our seat numbers. Turned out, the elderly man switched seats with the Malay gal who was sitting beside me. Uh huh…

Though my dad’s hometown is in Perak, I’ve never been to Sitiawan so I was rather skeptic about the surroundings. Was worried I might missed the stop I was suppose to get down. Though Mel constantly said to disembark at Sri Manjung station, the bus never did go there and it went straight to the terminal bus station which is in Lumut. Thank god, Lumut wasn’t so far from Sitiawan, but Mel will have to go a little further to pick me up hehe.

A white Proton Wira could be seen in a distance and I noticed it was Mel. We headed straight to the hotel first for me to check in. After picking up her brothers from their classes and back home, we went to have lunch at a local coffee shop. Mel said she’ll bring me around Sitiawan..and check out where Thanem, Yuha, Pey Tsei and the rest lives LOL. Then we stopped by Huoy Feng’s house to inform her about the Pangkor trip tomorrow. She was very reluctant to come with us and poor Mel had to beg, persuade all her might to get her to go. XD

She then brought me to her secondary school, which she is now currently enrolled in upper six. We toured around the school. It somehow gave fond memories of my BB as well. Their Interact Club has projects proposed every year to be built specially for the school’s facility. I don’t remember ours did any of it. Probably we had Maintenance Club and they don’t to settle it.

Next, we bought some rojaks sold in a house instead of stalls we usually see around. Boy, the rojak tasted so good. I’dbe sure to drop by there and buy some of it again when I pay Sitiawan a visit the next time.

The time was almost 6 and we decided to call it a day. Went to Fajar to purchase snacks for tomorrow’s journey before she finally dropped me off at the hotel. Dinner later at

Bistro

Beach

.

I unlocked the door to my room and took a short nap.

Mel came around 8 if I don’t remember wrongly. LOL she had almost forgotten about the dinner, hadn’t Thanem stopped by her house.

We arrived at Beach Bistro a roughly half an hour later. Mel suggested about dropping by at Rockafella later with Thanem and her boyfriend but then it didn’t happen. LOL she insisted of not going back home so soon, not before the clock strikes

midnight

. It’s her birthday wat..haha her final 1 digit before she turns 20 the next year.

So we took a stroll around the jetty at Lumut, where we will be back here tomorrow morning for the crossover to Pangkor. The jetty is amazingly a beautiful sight at night. Many people come here for the cool breeze of sea air. We took a spot and started chatting when such a coincidence, her crush, CE was also there! LOL with her girlfriend that was…he walked pass her and Mel’s was like somehow behind my back, fearing that he’ll see her XD. Hehe I could see she was really blushing.

To be continue…

Genting

Monday, June 13th, 2005

Whoa..finally I’m getting some free time off to blog right now. It’s just been really tiring working from 9 to 8pm. Anyway, last week Sunday, went to Genting Highlands to apply for a technician job with Chong Yu and Shiong Chung. Hehe, well my intention isn’t really looking forward to the job there..I’ve longing to enter the casino as well as having some fun. Yu and Chung thought otherwise though.

I arrive earlier than both of them at Terminal Putra. Usually, I’m rather the latest LOL. We bought the 9.15am bus. As we were waiting for the bus, we talked about the day since we last met what have they been up to. Get this, both of them have been infected with the ‘Warcraft’ disease. What kind of syndrome you asked? Late night daily CC visits till the sun rises in the East. Practically that’s how they passed the day. Great. No of course not! What kind of life is that?? Errghh..at least hanging out isn’t too bad but Warcraft every day??! Insanity was just a step ahead of them.

We had breakfast at Happy Valley Express once when we were there. The chicken rice plus toast pork is really delicious.

Done, we enquired the counter staff to the loaction of the HR department cos that’s where the applications are being taken. The staff told us to walk passed a candy shop and turn left. I was surprised by how the HR office looked like. Down at a hollow corner…well..more of a back alley and when we entered, huh..what a great shock we had..people are everywhere in the office, obviously they are there to look for job vacancies as well.

I instantly stepped back from the looks of that intensed crowd. I just didn’t have the mood to work here anymore, not with this amount of people. Cos anyway, I’m already helping at a shop, I don’t really need it that much. Yu and Chung needed it as they are unemployed at the moment. So we went to the counter and requested for the application form, at the same time we asked how long would it take to reach our turns, the staff there told us to get back here at 2pm.

Huh, nice..from the way she said it, it’s gonna take freakin long hours. Since we had a  couple of hours to waste, I suggested we checked out the casino instead. And we were at the entrance, the sound of cards shuffling, chips clashing each other and dice being rolled were so clearly heard. It’s a sight of awe…looking at the amount of people in here gambling without conscious. The casino itself has fed so many people of their living. Datuk Goh, I salute you!

Seriously, I just can’t have the thought of placing my own hard money on the table only having to be swept away later. What’s the probability of winning the jackpot? What’s the probability of one being lucky? I leave that to someone else who can finally crack it someday to think about.

2pm came, they both submitted their forms..and waited for their turns to be interviewed. Waiting..waiting..waiting..watch displayed 4pm. Still no sign of being their turns yet. We didn’t have the chance to be at neither the indoor and outdoor theme park. Sucks having to wait this way.

When the watch approaches 5, it was Yu’s call. He got in and when he came out later, he described the interview was more of like a chit-chat. And that, he got the job. Excuse me? This is call an interview? LOL. No wonder so many people wanted jobs here. Their work commences next Monday.

When we’re finally done, it’s already almost 5. We decided to return but to our ‘delight’, the skyway queue..the amount people in line were shockingly long. It’ll take hours before it reached us. There are some guys offering to pick customers down all the way to the bus station at the skyway terminal. Obviously with a price much more than the usual skyway fare.

Fortunately, we met one who was willing to charge us only RM1 more than the usual price and we accepted it almost immediately.

I reached home about 8 and boy..what a day. Accompanying the 2 clowns up there look for jobs instead of enjoying LOL. Anyway, it’s nice to spend some quality time with friends.

So busy…….

Urgh….finally..I  had the time to settle down to update my blog. Couple of days ago was too fatigue to update (lazy is another reason LOL).

Last Saturday, Fadli called to watch Star Wars Episode 3: ROTS with Solat (Who in fact, this will be the 3rd time he’s watching it! LOL a real hardcore SW fan obviously) at TGV One Utama. I was dead exhausted after work but I hate turning down offers that someone offer to watch a movie or hang out and therefore I’d certainly go (provided I really had something on to do). We wanted to get the 8.45pm tix but my work ended at 8 and I have to take a shower first before the show starts. Doesn’t seem possible that we’ll be able to make it.

There were neither 9 nor 10pm shows. The only one available is the 11.45pm. Ok then, what choice do we have anyway. Since there was practically almost 2 hours more before the show begins, we had our dinner first at Kenny Rogers Restaurant. Seriously, it was so freaking hard for us to decide a place to dine, you want it decent and filling. LOL.

While we’re munching on our food orders respectively, Solat mentioned that he needed an errant boy to run for his sister’s wedding soon. Fadli was surprised there was such a role in a Muslim’s marriage ceremony. Because technically, all the family members involved will eventually delegate the tasks among themselves, meaning doing the tasks all rounder. Nobody had a specific task of just only fetching that stuff they’re were responsible to. Just doesn’t work that way.

After our dinner, we still had like 1 hours more so we walked aroung the new wing. We found a place to sit and Solat starts reminiscing the scenes from Episode 1 and 2 to refresh our memories. LOL, I hadn’t even watched both of it so listening to it won’t make me understand thoroughly but I roughly got the picture.

I enjoyed the entire movie through. The part where Chancellor Palpatine betrayed the Jedi masters..love that scene. All was taken surprised. Even the yound jedis weren’t spared..pity Anakin had to turn to the dark side. Before this, I wasn’t really into SW. I mean, I just watched it like any other movies but I wou’dn’t be so keen in a way. After watching this, I decided to get the entire DVD set when it’s released later.

Okay, here comes the embarrasing part. I am really bad at recognising directions. Consequences? I’ve lost track of where I’ve parked my car. God..it was so excruciating trying to locate my damn Wira..What’s even worst is it’s in the wee hours of Sun morning and no other cars are at sight now that all are emptying the lot. The complex is completely spooked still empty, except the 3 souls wandering around the floor searching for my car. I knew I shouldn’t have parked my car at the new wing. It’s just so confusing there!! Thank god I do remember at least where I came out from the car park. Next to it was a Konika camera shop. But then again, I can’t remember which basement level. Man…the whole ordeal was crapped. Fadli was smart to suggest that I activate the car alarm so that I can trace where would the noise come from. Finally…found it! Good lord. LOL.

Fadli spent the night at my house since it was too late for him to drive all the way back to Rawang. Before that, he dropped Solat first.

So really, the lesson I’ve learned that day was; Jot down your bloody parking level and section that your car is parked if you’re not familiar with the area.

First day of work

Thursday, June 2nd, 2005

Well, actually second day LOL..was too tired to write yesterday. Basically all I had to do was take orders down from customers who want their electrical appliances fixed or came to reclaim their fixed goods. Shop was abundled with TVs everywhere.

There were only 2 staffs working on repairing the electrical goods. Basically anything from Astro decoder, TV, VCD/DVD player, Hi-Fi etc are being accepted here for repair.

Not much I can do on the first day but to learn all the details about the shop, what they sell etc. What’s even better is since they are tonnes of TV in the shop, I can always switch one to watch if there are no customers LOL. At least it isn’t just plain sitting on the counter day dreaming.

Around in the evening, there were these 2 hot caucassian chicks (I’m guessing UK or somewhere in Europe) entered the shop to get a second hand DVD player. I was rather surprised cos mat salehs don’t usually hang around visiting at shophouses..you know they should be at shopping complexes instead of places like this. Anyway boss recommend a player for RM80. They wanted a remote control with it as well. Another RM20. Makes it RM100 but they deemed it expensive. Excuse me? How much does RM100 worth converted to your currencylah? 30 Euro or even 20 GBP the most.

Finally, they didn’t want it and left. Finished work around 8pm. Well, gonna spend the rest of my 3 months period like that..unless I go find a better job.
